Matching & filters
OME lets you choose a country and whether you want to meet a woman, a man or a couple — for free. If nobody from your chosen country is available, OME widens to the nearest countries so you are matched quickly. Chatroulette matches more randomly, and some filtering is behind a paid tier.
Mobile experience
OME is built for phones first: a split screen with the other person on top and you below, swipe left to skip and right to change settings. That makes it faster to use one-handed than a desktop-oriented site.
Safety
Both services are 18+ and offer reporting. OME blocks users who break the rules and does not record the video stream; frames may be sampled for moderation as described in the Terms. As always, don't share personal details and report anyone who breaks the rules.
Price
OME is free, including its filters. Chatroulette is free to start but sells optional paid features. For most people, OME covers what they need without paying.
Why people switch
Free filters, a cleaner mobile design, quick matching and no sign-up are the main reasons people pick OME. Try it on the home page.
